Southern is actually the best
I think the Southern Conference would be great if…App State and Georgia Southern were not leaving the conference. But, I do not believe the SoCon wants Kennesaw State, because they are too big with 25,000 enrolled and growing. The Owls just don’t fit in. If KSU joined the SoCon, they would be only the fourth public university, the rest are small private schools. The breakdown looks like this:
Citadel – private – 3402 enrolled
Chattanooga – public – 10,781 enrolled
ETSU – public – 15,536 enrolled (joining in 2014)
Elon – private – 6800 enrolled
Furman – private – 3200 enrolled
Mercer – private – 8300 enrolled (joining in 2014)
VMI – private – 1600 enrolled (joining in 2014)
Western Carolina – public – 9500 enrolled
Wofford – private – 1536 enrolled
KENNESAW STATE – PUBLIC – 24600 enrolled
Forgot Samford – private – 4758 enrolled
